As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 608 people, 207 households, and 157 families residing in the village. The population density was 305.1 people per square mile (118.0/km²). There were 235 housing units at an average density of 117.9 per square mile (45.6/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.51% White, 0.33% Asian, and 0.16% from two or more races.
There were 207 households out of which 44.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.8% were married couples living together, 15.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 21.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.94 and the average family size was 3.27.
In the village the population was spread out with 31.9% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 34.2% from 25 to 44, 18.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
